Happy New Year! From Grandma Carolyn

Updated: 6 days ago

The first new thing I get to celebrate is my 24th great-grandchild. Our new baby Thompson (from Ed’s line) is scheduled to arrive in the middle of this month and we can’t wait to meet Chase. New baby girl Madalyn Thompson (great-grandchild #23) arrived this past November and lives in Switzerland. What an amazing family God has given me all because I married Les with his 3 boys and then we added one more boy to round us off.

Third Son Gregg and his wife, Beverly, have a new home in Indianola, Mississippi. They moved back to America after being part of a large Christian school in Jakarta, Indonesia for 6 years. I went to their lovely new home for Christmas, which was specially decorated for me to enjoy— which I thoroughly did. I didn’t know Mississippi was part of the Delta with bayous all around. Gregg is the interim headmaster at the Indianola Academy and it took their new community about a minute to realize what a special interim headmaster they had found. One teacher said, “We could not be more happy Gregg is here.” I couldn’t agree more.

Both my older sons, Ken and Dan, are experiencing their new retirement. They are now enjoying all their new freedom to visit their children and grandchildren and do some overdue traveling. I have to squeeze in my visits to catch them at home now! (And by the way, how can I be old enough to have children who are retired?)

Fourth son Ed enjoys a not-so-new hobby of music, much like his father. Along with his faithful LOGOI leadership, Ed sings and entertains as “Crooner Ed.” He released a wonderful new jazz album titled “Amazing, Awful, Ordinary Life,” and one of his songs became the #1 song in America on Amazon’s Easy Listening chart. How about that? Of course, I am his most avid fan as he sings his way into the hearts of many…and always finds a way to include a clear Gospel message in his secular world events. You can join his fan club if you wish by visiting his new CroonerEd.com website.

My oldest two great-granddaughters, Corinne and Elise, read my new book last year. That was so special for me since the book is dedicated to my great grands. The rest have to add some more years before they will be able to read it. By the way, my “Unexpected Love Story” book is available for download on Amazon. com as well as our LOGOI website (print or electronic). Buying a copy is a new fun and interesting way to support LOGOI’s ministry.

New for me has been locating our national missionaries working with children in poverty areas. We are sending beautiful crocheted dolls and clothes for the children made by myself and those who like to sew or help with store-bought things. It is my “cup of cold water” that thrills the children and opens doors to telling the families about Jesus and His love for them. What a wonderful new blessing this has been for me. So far, I’ve made 91 things (dresses, shorts and shirts) and I’m just getting started. If you would like to be a part, please let me know – there is always room for more because a wonderful LOGOI friend and helper has offered to pay for all the shipping costs. I am overwhelmed at this “new” job to do here at home.

I like this verse from the Easy English Bible: God did not save us because of any good things that we ourselves had done. He saved us because he chose to forgive us. Titus 3:5

I’m so glad these “new things” are nothing more than doors for proclaiming the Gospel. I pray I will meet some of these children, along with their parents one day in our “new heaven and new earth” (see Revelation 21).

So please join me as we welcome in a brand New Year full of hope, faith and love. I am so thankful you are part of my extended LOGOI family and excited to see all the things the Lord has prepared for us this new year. Your friendship and faithful partnership to us at LOGOI means the world to me. Thank you, thank you.

Hugs from Abuela Carolina

P.S. I’d love to get a new note or email from you to bring me up-to-date on you and your loved ones. It also helps me to pray more wisely for you.

P.P.S. I thought you might enjoy one of Ed’s songs
