Walter Zurdo, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

A common scene long after the last message given at a LOGOI Pastor’s Conference in Latin America was a long line of pastors waiting for their turn to have a private conversation with LOGOI’s founder, the late Dr. Les Thompson. “They have so many problems,” he would say solemnly, “and have no one to talk to.”

Pastor Walter Zurdo witnessed those lines of pastors in Argentina helping Dr. Thompson at various LOGOI conferences over the years. Today, he is often the one patiently and lovingly listening to the problems and issues his fellow pastors and leaders are facing and offering godly, pastoral advice and guidance.

Pastor Zurdo has been part of LOGOI’s family for a long time. He has completed all of LOGOI’s Bible courses, utilizes our online Bible resource center extensively, and has helped hundreds of other pastors and leaders discover LOGOI. Today, his primary focus is working with a group of roughly 35 pastors from neighboring areas in much of a counseling role. Sounding very much like his mentor, Dr. Thompson, Pastor Zurdo also sadly acknowledges, “They face many problems because so many pastors lack the biblical foundation and training a pastor truly needs.” This is one of the reasons he brings so many of them to LOGOI, which is one of our primary goals: to provide solid, trusted, on-the-job Bible training and resources.

Helping to meet the needs of his local community is another priority. In a ministry effort Pastor Zurdo helped coordinate, our own Grandma Carolyn participated in providing gifts of food and love for children in a very poor barrio of Buenos Aires several years back. You can see the short video HERE.

What a joy to be a partner in ministry with Pastor Zurdo. He and his wife, Liliana (both widowed who found each other while serving in various ministry projects), are meeting the needs of pastors and leaders in their community. What an important, valuable ministry. Would you take a moment right now and pray for them? And while you’re at it, ask the Lord to raise up many more “Zurdos.”
