Edgar Arreaza, Guatemala

The Guatemalan cities of Peronia, Villanueva, Zacapa, Llano Largo, as well as Orange Walk, Belize, share something very special in common. They are all cities where our National Missionary of the Month, Pastor Edgar Arreaza, has planted a church. By our count, Pastor Edgar has planted at least nine churches since 1991, including his current church in Llano Largo.

Church planters are amazingly talented people. I asked ChatGPT to give a funny artificial intelligence description of a church planter: “A church planter is like a spiritual Swiss Army knife, a holy multitasking superhero with a cape made of faith and a utility belt filled with duct tape and divine intervention. They’re the unsung heroes of the congregation, keeping the faith and the light bulbs shining, one miracle at a time.” Not bad…and surprisingly accurate.

In addition to being a “church planting superhero,” Edgar has been happily married to Rosa Elena Sosa for almost 30 years and they have two children, Joel and Berenice.

Pastor Edgar is a joy to serve and help. In so many ways, he exemplifies the type of people LOGOI is designed to help. The Lord instilled in him all the necessary “Swiss Army knife-like” talents and abilities, called him to proclaim the Gospel, and he enthusiastically answered the call. LOGOI simply comes alongside him and provides on-going, trusted, Biblical resources to help him along the way.

Edgar says, “I believe the church in general needs to wake up to these two specific issues in order to fulfill the Great Commission. Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age’ (Matthew 28:18-20).”

“We are giving interdenominational pastor and leader conferences in Guatemala,” Pastor Edgar explains, “with the vision of continuing to expand the kingdom of God. I am grateful for LOGOI and the Bible resources offered. God has used LOGOI to provide much help, edification, and growth in my pastoral and missionary ministry.”

Would you please take a moment right now and pray for Pastor Edgar? Specifically, he asks for prayer regarding their plans to raise up a new church plant in Guatemala City. In his own words: “Please pray that the Lord Jesus will protect and greatly bless and expand the vision in each ministry leader so that the Gospel will spread throughout all of Guatemala and the world.”
