Something very exciting is happening in Santo Domingo! One church alone on this Caribbean Island has enrolled over 70 people in our on-the-job Bible school, and we simply had to see what was going on.
Much time has passed since I last visited the Dominican Republic, when a scary donkey chased me around a field. I can still remember its breath on the back of my neck as I ran away as fast as my skinny five-year-old legs could take me. As it turns out, the ‘burro’ was just being friendly, but to a little boy, those big hoofs and buck teeth were terrifying.
We introduced you to Pastor Ezequiel as our June National Missionary of the Month. We learned a bit of his story back then, but not nearly enough.
“How did you find LOGOI?” we asked while sitting in his office. “Our church was growing, and I needed help,” he said, getting right to the point. “I needed men and women who could do things like small group Bible studies, teach Sunday School, lead outreach groups, and become deacons and elders,” he said just naming a few. “This means they have to know God’s Word,” he continued, “so I searched for an online Bible program that faithfully teaches God’s Word.”
Shortly after, a small group of some 20 men and women started making their way into Pastor Ezequiel’s office. They were the key leaders charged with training more leaders and all were “LOGOI students.” Their joy in meeting us was a bit overwhelming. They kept saying “thank you, thank you,” explaining how much they were learning about the God they love and serve from our LOGOI Bible courses.
I couldn’t help but smile knowing I was once again seeing exactly what my father had envisioned and why LOGOI exists. I whispered, “Lord, thank you for letting me see this. I’m so encouraged. And say ‘hello’ to my Pop for me. He would be so thrilled to see his vision thriving.” (Click HERE to see Ed's report from Santo Domingo.)
Helping and equipping national pastors and leaders to reach their communities with the Gospel is alive and well — and so very cost-effective. We are thrilled to be a part.
Would you take a moment right now and pray for Pastor Ezequiel and the more than 70 men and women studying our Bible courses. Pray that they will be well equipped to “…do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). By the way… they are praying for you!
