Grandma Carolyn’s New Year’s Update

Updated: Mar 24, 2021

Happy New Year!

It feels really good to say that. Most of us have been looking forward to turning the page on a very strange and confusing year.

Here is a wonderful “New Year’s” passage for us: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Thinking back over my 2020, I was in Albuquerque, New Mexico visiting a supporting church for their mission weekend just before the virus broke out. I had brought some piggy-banks and was talking about our wonderful Five Dollar Mission ministry when I noticed a lovely young lady paying close attention. Sure enough, she signed up excited about how God might use her to help a national pastor or missionary in Latin America. Of course, I was thrilled. Ministry piggy-banks go home to be reminders that it only takes five dollars a month to help a national missionary. I love it when children want to be my friend after they hear me talk about missions. It was more special than any of us imagined since the virus sent us all into seclusion immediately after this conference.

I was ready to go to another mission conference to do the same thing but the virus closed everything down. BUT NOT LOGOI! Suddenly, pastors and leaders all over the Spanish speaking world started downloading our Bible resources and courses like never before. God had uniquely positioned our “virus-free-online-Bible-resources-and-courses” to be right where we needed to be to help tens of thousands of pastors and leaders in 2020. What a thrill!

As more and more signed up for our online Bible resources and courses, I started to email them to say “Abuela Carolina is praying for you.” Can you imagine my joy as I received emails back from my “LOGOI Grandchildren” all over the world? I’ve been busier than ever and will share more about this in the days ahead.

I’m going to shift gears and focus on some of my 14 wonderful grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. After all, this is my “Grandma Carolyn” letter and I have to talk about my family. So just imagine you’re with me and I start pulling out photos on my phone…

Altogether, we total 47! For Christmas, I try to make a simple gift I can send to my family. You can see in the pictures the little linen hand towel. It’s worth the time and gives me great joy when I get a picture back along with a sweet note.

So my “virus year” has been filled with writing letters around the world — from my immediate family to thousands in my LOGOI family around the world.

And of course, I love writing to you, too. Thank you for being a part of our family! Your prayers and interest in helping LOGOI continue to impact the lives of national pastors and leaders is such a great encouragement. Let’s all look forward to what God is going to do for each and every one of us this new year.

Love from,
