March 2024 Prayer and Praise

I’ve received difficult news recently from national missionaries in Canada and Cuba.

You may recall we assisted a Cuban pastor’s family flee to Canada after threats and arrests. Their journey was long and challenging, but they are settled in Montreal. They confessed they have spent much time in tears missing their family, friends and the flourishing ministry they had. It is a very difficult thing to start over again in a foreign land, but they remain faithful and full of hope. Please pray for Felipe, Rayda and 15-year-old son Caleb in these difficult days.

Over the years we have talked much about Lazaro and his sports ministry in Cuba. We had lost contact with him and have just learned he had been jailed and accused of counter revolutionary work. Meanwhile, his family received a lottery grant to leave Cuba legally, so they are on the move (with Lazaro’s blessing). Lazaro, however, is now alone to face the continuing threats. He wrote, “Cuban officials must recognize that the only thing I will do until my last breath is to preach the Gospel. I have not given up, nor will give up.”

Lazaro asked for prayer “…if God wills, so I can leave Cuba to be with my family in my final days and for a person who will continue proclaiming the Gospel through our sports ministry.”

We know very little about this kind of hardship and persecution. Please join us in prayer for these beloved children of God.
