June Castagneto - Los Ríos, Ecuador

It is little surprise that there are many thousands of pastors and teaching leaders in the Spanish speaking world who have never heard of LOGOI. To give you an idea, there are roughly 69,000 registered evangelical pastors in Mexico. (How many are unregistered evangelical pastors is anyone’s guess.) According to our interactive map at LOGOIministries.org, only 1,651 pastors and teaching leaders in Mexico have registered with LOGOI.

Even fewer (446) have registered with us in Ecuador. So it was little surprise to receive a message from June Castagneto in Ecuador where she basically said, “I’ve never heard of LOGOI.”

Well now she has! And you should see the happy gleam in Grandma Carolyn’s eyes as she starts to get to know our new Ecuadorian friend.

All we know of June thus far is that she’s married with three kids, has believed in Jesus for about 30 years, and instead of attending a formal church on Sundays, gives Bible lessons to anyone who will listen in a park near her home.

If you know a little about LOGOI, then you may also have a happy gleam in your eye because June is exactly the type of person LOGOI loves to help and encourage. First, she loves Jesus! That’s about all we ever really need to know. Second, she’s already doing something to serve Christ. No one is paying her…she just has to go and tell others about Jesus and for her, it’s at the park on Sunday mornings. We believe she has been giving her Bible lessons in the park for about four years now.

Once again, June helps us understand our definition of a “national missionary.” She loves the Lord and wants those in her neighborhood and community to also discover Jesus. “Jesus is the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me,” she told Grandma Carolyn, “and I just want to follow God’s leading wherever that takes me.”

We’re not sure how June finally found LOGOI, but we’re thrilled and looking forward to getting to know her and learning more how we can help and encourage her. June represents a great many who somehow discover LOGOI in their journey of faith. Will you take a moment right now and pray for June? Ask the Lord to encourage her, to give her the desire to know His Word, and to continue to joyfully proclaim the Gospel — right there in her park on Sunday mornings.
