National Missionaries Writing Stories...

Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25 NLT).

It’s easy to forget that the events written in the Bible of Jesus’ life were the ones recorded so that we would to believe in him. John 21:25 reminds us there was so much, much more going on, the whole world could not contain all the books that would have to be written.

Looking back over the years of sharing stories of our national missionaries reminds me how little we truly know and are able to share of their lives and ministries. It would be the same if we asked you to tell us your life story in just a couple of short paragraphs. All we get is a brief glimpse of all your seconds, minutes, and hours on God’s earth.

We’ve told you about Pastor Rómulo who lives half-way up the snow capped Huaytapalla Mountain in the Andes Mountains. He was an alcoholic when Jesus redeemed him who then became a pastor of a small church in Concepción, Peru where some 15,000 people live. Imagine the stories he could share about his life and walk with Jesus. 

We’ve introduced you to a social worker named Eva, in a tiny little town in Nicaragua. The “big” attraction in that town is a restored Catholic Church built in the 1530s. Her husband is the town’s pastor and veterinarian — what a great combo. Eva started a ministry for abandoned and battered women and children. Just imagine the stories she could tell of her life and ministry. 

Yoyceline was enjoying island life is Curacao, Netherlands Antilles (in the southern Caribbean Sea) when her life story took a tragic turn. She was in an accident that left her a widow and in a wheelchair. In her deep sorrow and struggle, she found Jesus. She works as a cashier to make ends meet and volunteers in her church’s nursery. “I don’t know what God’s plans are for me,” she explained, “but I want to be useful to Him and LOGOI’s Bible studies are helping me share my faith.” Just think of all that could be written about her life.

You’ve had the opportunity to learn a little about a young Bible student in Ecuador named Pablo. We told you just a small piece of the story of Felipe and Rayda who fled Cuba and now have found themselves living and ministering in Canada. There is Pastor Miguel in Chihuahua, Mexico who spent years running from God until truly giving his heart and life to Jesus. Now he has a ministry working with migrants in a dangerous part of the world. Think of all the stories and books that could be written just about these? 

Each one of these are representatives of the many thousands God has given us at LOGOI to help, encourage, and pray for. In so many ways, they represent us, too, and the lives God has given us that are packed full of stories. As we’ve shared tiny glimpses of their lives, we’ve asked you to stop and take a moment and pray. Would you do that right now? Ask the Lord to bless them, encourage and help them. And while you’re at it, ask the Lord to bless and encourage you, too. After all, you have an amazing story being written right now.
