"If you are a coffee aficionado, you might want to try “Typica Mejorado” produced in the high altitudes of Loja, Ecuador. It’s produced from low yielding heirloom varieties and as “Bold Bean Specialty Coffee Roasters” explain, it is known for its “rich crème de cacao sweetness lifted by delicate magnolia florals and bright lime zest, creating a beautifully balanced cup with remarkable sweetness, clarity, and layered nuance.” Wow!"

We do love a good cup of coffee, but we prefer the “bright zest and layered nuances” of

two of our favorite Loja residents, Ricardo Soria and his wife, Karen. They both serve at

the Iglesia Centro Cristiano Cordero de Dios, in Loja, Ecuador.

“Our city has a great need for knowing God’s Word,” Ricardo says. “Our country

struggles with difficult times because of delinquency and other social problems. All of

this makes us understand even more the necessity there is to share the gospel and

leave a message of hope to people – which is God’s Word.”

Karen is the president for the women in the church and she is also an English teacher. Ricardo is part of a pastoral group where they have been able to proclaim the Gospel in other provinces like: Zamora, Malacatos and Orianga. Ricardo makes his living as systems analyst for a local Ecuadorian company.

Ricardo is also studying Pastoral Theology in a local seminary preparing “to be a pastor

in the place where God gives me the opportunity and privilege to serve Him.” He goes on

to explain, “I discovered LOGOI as I began looking for Bible courses that would help me

in my understanding and know God and His Word. LOGOI has been a great blessing in

my life and growth.” Ricardo has recently completed 4 of our LOGOI Bible courses. He

pauses for a moment and then continues, “If we work hard to train and learn to be

successful in our jobs on this earth, how much more should we prepare ourselves to

serve in the work of the Lord that will last for eternity?”

We couldn’t agree more. What a joy to see the passion and focus Ricardo and Karen have

for serving Christ. Would you take a moment right now and pray for them? Specifically,

pray that in God’s timing, their studies and training will lead to a full-time ministry “so

that all we do will be for His glory, His church, and the people He puts in our lives.”

What a wonderful, “rich and sweet aroma” Roberto and Karen must be to all those they

meet. They wanted for us to be sure and include their greeting to you from Philippians

4:21, “Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me

send greetings.”
