Alain Cuellar Muñoz, Placetas, Cuba

Some may say the birthplace of LOGOI was Placetas, Cuba, a rich agricultural area for tobacco, sugarcane, fruit, and cattle located in central Cuba. Placetas was also the birthplace of LOGOI’s founder, the late Dr. Les Thompson who loved to tell stories of roaming the hills, swimming in the streams, and eating mangoes off the trees.

Placetas is also where Les’ father, Elmer Thompson, established the Los Pinos Seminario which continues to this day. LOGOI remains active in providing our Bible resources and courses to Los Pinos students on campus and beyond.

One of those Los Pinos students is Alain Cuellar Muñoz. He is in the second year of his master’s degree in Christian ministry studies. “I also work full-time at the seminary as a computer specialist and editor in the Bible department,” Alain says. “Outside of the seminary, I love serving and teaching at one of our Los Pinos house churches.”

Alain was a bit taken back when we called him a missionary. “I’m happy that you call me a national missionary,” he said, “but I personally have not planted any churches. I’m just someone who wants to serve God and use the gifts and talents he’s given me.” We just smiled and said, “You more than qualify and we are proud to call you a missionary.”

With that, Alain excitedly continued, “I have felt the need to study and equip myself because whoever stops training and learning stops teaching. I want to help equip the church so that together we do God’s work and build up His church. I believe that is required of us as members of the body of Christ.”

On a personal level, Alain told us he is engaged to a young lady who is also part of Los Pinos. “Our prayer is to serve the Lord together in ministry wherever He can use us.”

Would you take a moment and pray for Alain right now? While he asks for prayers for his ongoing studies and ministry plans, he also excitedly asks for prayers and God's blessing on his upcoming marriage. What a joy it is to know Alain and his love for the Lord. We are so grateful for our small role in "equipping God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12)
